My paintings are inspired by the places, wildlife and small moments in nature that catch my attention, from colourful gardens and woodland paths to coastlines and quiet landscapes. Original paintings are available throughout the year, with new work and collections released periodically.

Leah Schofield is an artist based in Kent whose work celebrates the beauty of the natural world. Working mainly in watercolour, oils, mixed media and experimental techniques, she captures moments of calm and connection, from countryside walks and gardens to skies, animals and wildflowers.
Leah studied Fine Art at City Lit in London and her work has been exhibited across Kent and won several awards. Her first solo exhibition, Moments in Nature, explored the fleeting moments of beauty that make us stop and notice the world around us.
A former teacher with over a decade of experience, Leah now combines her love of art and teaching through her watercolour classes, private tuition and online art community.
When she's not painting, Leah enjoys gardening, countryside walks, taking nature photos and the company of her black-and-white cat, Darla, who is usually close by when the paintbrushes come out!
My watercolour classes are friendly, relaxed sessions where you can learn new techniques, develop your skills and enjoy a couple of creative hours each week.
Each week we explore a different subject or technique, from flowers, animals and still lifes to landscapes and woodland scenes. I teach skills including colour mixing, wet-on-wet, layering, creating depth and texture, with demonstrations and plenty of individual guidance along the way.
The classes are suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners, and I keep the groups small so everyone gets plenty of support.
Mondays, 10am-12pm
£18 per session or £180 for 12 weeks (£15 per session)
Peninsula Methodist Church, Cliffe Road, Strood, Kent, ME2 3DY

Would you like to come behind the scenes of my art and pick up ideas for your own artwork along the way?
Through my Art Supporter membership (£2 + VAT/month), I share my paintings, works in progress, sketches and experiments, as well as the observations and artistic decisions behind them.
I’ll share what I’m trying, why I make certain choices, what works (and what doesn’t!), and ideas you can experiment with in your own art.
Whether you’re an artist yourself, enjoy seeing how paintings come together, or simply want to support my artwork, I’d love to have you there.
Come behind the scenes:

My 50-page guide is packed with practical techniques to help you observe nature more closely, improve your drawing and feel more confident in your sketchbook.
Learn ways to tackle proportions and shapes, loosen up your drawing, and experiment with tone, texture and colour.

I accept a small number of commissions, in oil paint, watercolour and Brusho. These can include favourite landscapes and places, wildlife, pets or other nature-inspired subjects that have a special meaning to you. I can often work from your own photographs, and we can discuss the size, medium and style that would suit your idea.
